The Opening: Our Story (The "Why")

“Aleefurry Buddy Foundation began with a simple observation in the heart of Bellevue: every animal has a story, but not every story has a happy ending. Founded on the belief that compassion knows no bounds, we started as a small group of animal lovers determined to change the fate of the neglected and the forgotten. What began as a local rescue effort has grown into a dedicated mission to protect, heal, and rehome the furry companions who bring so much joy to our lives.”

OUR APPROACH TO SAVING WILDLIFE

Our mission has three key areas of focus:

  1. Conservation and protection of wild populations and habitat
  2. Rescue of injured and displaced wildlife, and care for rehabilitated populations
  3. Research to better protect and care for wildlife

But protecting and caring for wildlife isn’t enough. Lasting solutions also address alternative livelihoods for people and communities who have traditionally relied on wildlife exploitation to survive.

our co-founders determined to conserve India’s rich natural heritage began operating a rescue centre out of a small garage in New Delhi. Their goal was simple – to aid wildlife in distress and expand India’s core value of the right to freedom and dignity to the realm of wild animals. Kartick Satyanarayan and Geeta Seshamani’s grit and determination gave birth to Wildlife SOS. Today, we have evolved into an organisation actively protecting India’s precious wildlife, conserving habitats, studying biodiversity, conducting research, and creating alternative and sustainable livelihoods for erstwhile poacher communities or those who depend on wildlife for sustenance. We are the largest wildlife rescue organisation in India and run 12 rescue and rehabilitation centres across the country.

“Our vision is to build a future where every animal in our community is treated with the dignity, love, and respect they deserve. We strive to be a leading force in animal welfare within Bellevue and beyond, creating a world where animal homelessness is non-existent and neglect is a thing of the past. Through the sanctuary of Hector’s Forest Land and our growing network of compassionate supporters, we envision a society where the bond between humans and animals is nurtured, and where every ‘furry buddy’ has a safe, permanent place to call home.”
